FSC certification

The leading scientific journal Nature published research by Dutch biologist Joeri Zwerts from Utrecht University.

To protect large mammals, we urge that FSC certification or similar stringent schemes become the norm, as conventional logging is likely to result in half-empty forests dominated by rodents and other small species.”

This week, the leading scientific journal Nature published research by Dutch biologist Joeri Zwerts from Utrecht University.

His research proves that 2.7 more large endangered mammals live in FSC certified tropical forests than in forests without certification. 2.7 times more!!!!

An incredibly important publication because this research convincingly shows that FSC-certified tropical forest management helps protect critically endangered species.

Fortunately, this news was picked up by the NOS, NRC, Radio 1, RTL News, BRN and even the Jeugdjournaal!

As a big group AMS we are incredibly happy with this ‘earned’ attention which is part of campaigning and activating , together with FSC, to get the idea across that if we use more   FSC certified tropical wood overhere (think of building houses, garden designs, bridge and water locks) we save more FSC certified tropical forest over there’. That you can make a direct impact. Leading to more biodiversity, safety and wellbeing for the people living there.
